Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız, General Manager and Global Sales Director of Efi Reggiani in Türkiye

Tekstil News: Could you share your thoughts about ITM’24 Exhibition with the readers of Tekstil News Magazine? Did the exhibition meet your expectations?

Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız: ITM Textile Machinery Exhibition, which has been the meeting point of domestic and foreign sector professionals for years, offers a unique platform for exhibitors and visitors to establish and develop new business contacts and follow the latest developments in the sector. The exhibition met our expectations this year.

Tekstil News: Which machines, systems and technologies did you promote at ITM’24?

Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız: At ITM’24, we promoted various printing systems and equipment under the umbrella of Efi Reggiani. Efi Reggiani offers its users a complete solution system which is a combination of textile printing systems, software, ink, chemicals and technical service. In this exhibition, we introduced our new printing system Eco Terra Gold which is designed to minimise water consumption. EFI Reggiani ecoTERRA printing machine is a system developed for water-based pigment printing. This system does not require any auxiliary equipment before and after the process. Efi Reggiani ecoTERRA eliminates the need for pre-press preparation and post-press steaming or washing. As a result, users can achieve superior print results using less time, water and energy.

Tekstil News: How does Efi Reggiani see the Turkish market?

Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız: For developing countries such as Turkey, good financial performance of sectors is critical for the future of the country’s economy and the profitability and sustainability of companies. The chemical sector is of vital importance for economies, given its high added value, quality labour force and export potential. Efi believes in the future of the chemical and textile industry and shapes its investments in this direction. Efi Reggiani Turkey factory is positioned as a production hub in the field of textile chemicals and dyes, producing/supplying Efi’s operations and dealers all over the world.

Tekstil News: Do you include environmentally friendly and energy saving systems in your portfolio?

Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız: EFI introduced two new printing systems to the market in 2022: EFI Reggiani eco TERRA and EFI VUTEk® PaperPro printing systems, both of which offer sustainable printing solutions. Both printing systems use water-based inks that reduce both carbon emissions and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Water-based inks support green production, which contributes to a more sustainable production process. We have also recently introduced a new pigment ink that allows us to take an important step towards reduced water consumption and energy saving. The EFI Reggiani ecoTERRA press is a system developed for water-based pigment printing. With this technology, users can achieve superior printing results using less time, water and energy. As Efi Reggiani, we integrate our sustainability goal into our operations and aim to create added value on many levels.

Tekstil News: What kind of studies do you carry out on R&D and Sustainability?

Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız: In today’s world, where the notion of competition on a global scale has become increasingly important with globalisation, companies have made intensive efforts to increase their competitiveness in order to gain more share from global markets. In this sense, the concept of competitiveness is becoming increasingly important. Among the factors determining the competitiveness, the quality, cost and price of the goods produced by the firm come to the fore. Apart from these, R&D factors such as productivity, profitability, information technology, organisation and management structure, effective use of resources, innovation and creativity are among the other factors that determine competitiveness. Based on this knowledge, we invest significant resources to support innovation and R&D activities. Approximately one third of our employees are involved in research and development activities. Supporting product innovation and R&D activities has always been and will always be at the centre of the EFI business model.

Tekstil News: Which other exhibitions are you planning to participate in 2024?

Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız: The exhibitions we plan to participate in 2024-2025 are Febratex Brasil, Heimtextil Germany, Munich Fabric Germany, ITM China Shanghai, Igatex Pakistan, Texworld Indonesia, Turkchem Eurasia Istanbul.

Tekstil News: How do you assess the future of the textile chemistry sector when you make an evaluation considering Turkey and the world textile chemistry sector?

Serra Saatçioğlu Yıldız: Textile and textile chemicals sector is one of the locomotive sectors of Turkey with its employment, investment and high export rates. It also interacts with many different sectors. In this respect, the sustainability of these sectors in our country and region is of great importance. Last year, the Turkish chemical industry achieved remarkable growth thanks to factors such as Turkey’s cost advantage, geographical proximity to major consumption markets, disruptions in global supply chains, innovation and changing legal regulations. The Turkish chemical industry is still dependent on foreign currency raw material imports, but these growth factors also make Turkey a favourable supplier country with competitive labour costs and geographical proximity. Going forward, I believe that Turkish chemical companies need to identify a unique market positioning to capitalise on future trends that support growth and invest in their capabilities to become sustainable and technology-driven.
